WILLIAM BRUCE TAVERNER
September 6, 1948 – October 16, 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bruce Taverner announces his passing on Sunday October 16 at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 68 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Bruce was the son of the late Colin and Roma Taverner. He was also predeceased by his grandson Zachary Taverner, mother in law Blanche Meade, father in law Horace Meade and nephew Danny Taverner. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his devoted wife Joan (nee Meade) of 49 years. Loving father of Terry (Tracey) Holland, Landing ON, Amelia Cape Ray, a proud poppy, he will also be sadly missed by his four grandchildren Hayley, Cody, Danni, Harper. He will be forever remembered by his only sister Nancy (Edward) Smith, brothers; Dennis (Bernice) Taverner, Stanley (Christina) Taverner, Paul (Ivy) Taverner, Lloyd (Allanna) Taverner, Colin Taverner. He will also remain in the hearts of his step mother in law; Laverne Meade, sisters in law; Laura (Henry) McKinnon, Darlene (John) Hiltz, Roxanne (Larry) Espinola, brothers in law; Calvin (Joyce) Meade, Todd (Penny) Meade, Derrick (Tanya) Meade and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. To honour Bruce' wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. John The Evangelist Church in Cape Ray, from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday October 20, 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Harold Harvey, interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bruce's family.
