It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather on October 16,2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 15, 1927 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. Alf was the 3rd son of the late Charles and Nelsie Hutchins. Alf started his career as a carpenter for M.R. Chappell , later becoming a contractor working for many big companies before he became self-employed until his retirement. He will always be remembered as “Gungi” for he was an avid outdoorsman as well as a musician for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine of 66 years; sons, Alfie (Lillian), Ontario; Ken ( Trisha), Coxheath; daughters, Linda (Bud), Halifax; Donna (Terry), Coxheath; brothers, Bill, Halifax; Frank, Sydney. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Fred. We the family would like to thank Palliative Care 4E at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Dr. D’Intino, Cape Breton County Homemakers and VON. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 21st, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
