It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alfred Noel Hutchins, dear husband, father and grandfather on October 16, 2016.
Born December 15, 1927 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. Alf was the son of the late Charles and Nelsie Hutchins. Alf started his career as a carpenter for M.R. Chappell becoming a well sought after contractor across Nova Scotia which led to self-employment until his retirement.
He will always be remembered as "Gungi" by family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman as well as a seasoned musician. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine (Coombs) of 66 years; sons, Alfie (Lillian), Ontario; Ken (Tisha), Coxheath; daughters, Linda (Bud), Halifax, Donna (Terry), Coxheath; brothers, Bill, Halifax, Frank, Sydney. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Fred.
We the family would like to thank Dr. Jim MacKillop, Cape Breton County Homemakers, VON, Dr. D' Intino and Palliative Care at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 21st, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brenda Drake officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
