It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt and friend, Lorraine Hurd, age 88, on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Northside General hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Sydney she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Strickland) Hurd. Lorraine worked for many years as a nanny to the MacKenzie children of North Sydney. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going for drives. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United church, North Sydney. She is survived by her two sisters, Betty Hurd and Shirley Fiander, both of North Sydney and by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by two sisters, Violet Crane, Margaret Lewis and by three brothers, Albert, Kenneth and Bill Hurd.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Matthew Wesley United church with Rev. Nancy Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
