PERO, Darlene Christine – age 63, Yarmouth, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Born April 10, 1953 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Nellie Deitz, Shamokin, PA, and the late Clyde Deitz. Darlene worked as a correctional officer at the Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury, PA for 17 years. In her spare time, Darlene loved quilting, crafting and enjoying a cup of coffee with friends and neighbours. Besides her mother Nellie, she is survived by her husband, G. W. “Gary” Pero, Yarmouth, as well as by her two children, Joseph (Karen) Mikulski, Houston, TX and Melissa Mikulski, Dayton, TX, as well as by her grandchildren, Tehani Mikulski, Jill, Julianna and Jake Mikulski, Hope McKenney. Also surviving are three siblings, Joan, Nellie “Sissie” and Bill, all of Shamokin. Besides her father, she was predeceased by siblings, Clyde Jr. “Butchie”, Mick and Helen. In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
