It is with profound sadness the Dey family announces the passing of our patriarch Arun Chandra Dey on Friday, October 21, 2016, surrounded by his family at University Hospital, London, Ontario. Born in Kolkata, India on June 30, 1936, Arun was the eldest boy with six siblings. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 47 years Dipti, and by his devoted children: Ayon Dey (Sangita) and Trisha Czepiela (Steven). Cherished "Dadu" to his grandchildren: Anil and Hari. Lovingly remembered by his many family members, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends from St. John's, NL, London, ON, India and his university years. Arun led a remarkable life and touched the lives of everyone he met - both as a chemistry teacher at Memorial University and as a member of our family and the St. John's community. He was a committed community builder devoting much of his time to the establishment of the St. John's Hindu Temple. We will miss Arun's gentle and kind presence, wise advice, way with plants and gourmet meals. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. John's Hindu Temple, 26 Penney Lane, St. John's on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Arun's memory are asked to consider the St. John's Hindu Temple or Ronald McDonald House.
