Frances Cecelia MacDonald

Lieu de décès : Sydney, Nouvelle Ecosse
Date de décès : 2 novembre 2016

Frances Cecelia MacDonald, 66, of Sydney River passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Frances was the daughter of the late Michael and Clara McNeil MacDonald. Frances was also known as Fran, Francie, Frank, Mom and of course her favorite Nana Fran, as she was affectionately called by her three loving grand kids who she dedicated the latter part of her life to helping raise. Fran was always there to cheer them on in their sporting activities as their number one fan. Fran had few hobbies but instead chose to spend most of her time looking after those around her. She could usually be found shopping and looking for bargains at one of the local retail stores in the early hours while her grand kids were at school. Anyone who spent time with Fran felt the grace of her loving spirit. She had enough love for everyone and was not afraid to show it. Fran fearlessly battled cancer for two years and always showed strength to protect those who loved her. She claimed till the very end that seeing her ‘chickadees’ grandkids was her best medicine. She is survived by her cherished husband, Tom MacDonald; daughter, Carolyn (Brent); loving grandchildren, Alex, Julie and Ryan; sisters, Monica Mansell, Catherine Bray, Mary (Pat) Bray, Jean MacDonald, Clare (Artie) O’Reagan, Anne (Jackie) Neary, Stephanie (Mark) Clarke, Patricia (Barry) Brown, Marguerite (Rod) McNeil and Teresa (Peter) Garcin; brothers, Alex (Erika) McNeil and Michael (Carol) McNeil and brother-in-law, Raymond MacDonald; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney, with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
A special thank you to the Staff and Doctors in the Palliative Care unit and the Cancer clinic at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Also our many family and friends for the wonderful support system they have shown us throughout these difficult times.
