Evy sang in the Temple Sons of Israel choir from childhood, eventually led the choir, and with her husband, Barrie was an integral part of the Jewish communities in which they lived, Cape Breton, Moncton, Charlottetown and Calgary. Her activities in these communities included leading Hebrew School, organizing community meetings and religious services in her home, acting as Sisterhood president and with her phenomenal musical ability, leading choirs and the communities in song. She and Barrie had thousands of guests at their Shabbat table over the years, welcoming local and international visitors to their home.
