H. Ruth (nee Piers) MacDonald

Passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016, in her ninety-fourth year. Predeceased by her husband Roderick S. MacDonald and her parents, Hilda and George Piers. Ruth, born in Halifax N.S., grew up in a musical family in Ottawa, graduated from Nepean High School and attended Westboro United Church, where she was a devoted member of the C.G.I.T. She graduated as a dental nurse from the University of Toronto and practised her skills with dentists in Toronto. She moved to Vancouver to start a new career with Trans Canada Airlines and later with Air Canada, returning to Toronto to marry Rod. They lived in Etobicoke for many years, and after Rod died, Ruth purchased a condominium at Christie Gardens. Recently, she moved to the assisted living area, where she was grateful for the excellent care that the staff provided. She is survived by many cousins of the Piers and Shaw Families and is survived by her sister-in-law Margaret Clark and several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by her close friends Ruth and the Reverend Robert Shorten. At Ruth’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow both in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, Nova Scotia, and Springton Cemetery, Stanchel, Prince Edward Island.
