The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by family, on Friday, December 9, 2016, of Nelson Delborne Petrie, of Millcove, age 82 years. Born in Charlottetown, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mae (nee Jennings) Petrie. Nelson is survived by his loving wife Norma (nee Gallant); children James "Joe" (Darlene), Melody (Blair) Sentner, Lawrence (Delinda) and Wendy (Patrick) Cassels; brother James "Jimmy" Petrie; sister Jean Petrie; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sons Leo Alexander and Shannon Wayne Petrie. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Tuesday morning, then transferred to St. Michael’s Church, Corran Ban for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will take place later. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations in memory of Nelson may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
