Born and raised in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Douglas passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, on Saturday, December 10, 2016. He leaves behind, his wife, Lydia MacPherson (Tracz); his loving children, Patricia of North York and Steven MacPherson of Toronto and brother, Joe MacPherson of Sydney. The family will receive friends at ST. PAUL THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1111 Taylor-Kidd Boulevard, Kingston on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 12 noon until 12:50 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Thornhill, Ontario at a later date. Douglas is a Bell Canada Pioneer, a Central Office Technician and was thankful for his fellow co-workers: Roger, Frank, Gary, Bob and many others.
