It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Joann Helen Andrecyk on Wednesday December 14, 2016 at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Joann, the daughter of the late John and Katherine Ptaskiewicz, was 91 years of age. Joann was a loving woman who was very devoted to her family. She was a woman of strong faith. She loved cooking, baking, doing crafts, playing cards and going to the Casino. In her earlier years she travelled extensively. She even took a trip to her birth country, Poland.
Joann was the last living member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Bernie and Frank (Christina) and sister, Helen (Lloyd) MacKenzie. She was married to the late Anthony (Tony) Andrecyk. They had four children. Joann was predeceased by daughters, Veronica (Sam) Snow and Colleen (Gary) Dowell. She is survived by sons, John (Arlene) and Francis (Donna), both of Glace Bay.
Joann deeply loved her eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her room at Seaview Manor was full of many cherished pictures that she proudly showed to everyone.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seaview Manor for the wonderful care Joann received the last eight years. She referred to her room at Seaview Manor as ‘her home’. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Joann's life will take place at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay on Saturday, December 17, at 10 a.m. The Rev Leo Boone will be officiating. The interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.currysfuneralhome.com.
