NICKERSON, Francis Mae
Mae, as she was known, was born in Carleton, Yarmouth County on July 29, 1921 to Clayton and Elva Richardson. She was the youngest of her family and was predeceased by her husband Shenton Nickerson, her sisters Alice Richardson and Catherine Nickerson, brothers Donald Richardson and Charles Richardson, and infant grandson Andrew. Mae is survived by her sons Andrew S. Nickerson Q.C. (wife Helen) of Arcadia, Yarmouth County and Kent H. Nickerson (wife Ann) of Devon, England, UK, her granddaughters Allison Nickerson and Kathryn Seller, and her fondest delight, her great-grandson Malcolm Andrew Grant. She was active in her community belonging to the Yarmouth North Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary, the Women’s Institute, Yarmouth County Historical Society and High Hopes Seniors. She enjoyed many crafts, especially quilting, and was an avid bridge player. Travel and learning were lifelong endeavors. Mae was ready to lend her talents and support to any task, always mixed with her quick wit and good humor.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will be in Arcadia Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
