SEARS, Patricia Elizabeth - age 83, of Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., N.S., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on December 25, 2016. Patricia was born in Yarmouth on July 30, 1933 to the late Sadie and Hartley McKenna of Dayton.
Patricia, known as Pat to all who loved her, filled her life with music and song, wit and humour. She studied music at Acadia University, then went on to become a school music teacher in the Shelburne and Yarmouth areas and was a member of the Scotian Chorus. Along with teaching music in school, one of her greatest joys was giving piano lessons in her home in Port Maitland. Pat was a member of the Port Maitland United Baptist Church and, up until very recently, played the piano and organ for the church choir.
In earlier years, Pat, along with her husband Percy, spent many happy years going on camping trips with their travel trailer and accompanied by several of their friends. She also enjoyed many motorcycle trips as well, seated on the back of their Gold Wing, and accompanied by friends.
Pat had always been a cat lover and was known to often take much-needed items to the local SPCA. Children as well, were always a great source of happiness for Pat, who always had a yard full of neighbourhood kids and a plateful of homemade treats for them.
Pat, who always had a story to tell, also loved to knit, crochet, and quilt, and was never without a project on the go, with most of the results of her handiwork being given as gifts to family and friends.
Pat is survived by her sister Ruth McCosh of Goderich, ON, her loving daughter Heather Ruth Muise (Nigel) of Yarmouth, and her beloved grandson Spencer William Muise of Yarmouth. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother William "Billy" McKenna (WWII), and her husband Percy Raymond Sears.
