
George Perry
PERRY, Rev. George Fred, retired minister, 98, passed away peacefully at Bay Side Home, Barrington, on December 27, 2016. George was born September 3, 1918, in Bear Point, to Frederick M. C. Perry and Ina E. Cook Perry. George married Edith Joyce Lucille Greenwood on December 31, 1938, in Barrington. George was a Nova Scotia fisherman and then became a minister. He held pastorates in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine, New York, Illinois, South Carolina, and Florida. For many years, George was a pastor of a church in South Carolina, but in 1995, he accepted the pastorship of the Advent Christian Church in Bear Point and George and Edith returned to their birthplaces. George also served in the Canadian Army and was stationed in Newfoundland in 1944. George is survived by sons, Rodney C. Perry and his wife, Marcia, Williamson, New York; Gary M. Perry and his wife, Margaret, Bowdoinham, Maine; Eric T. Perry and his wife, Alice, Hallowell, Maine; daughter, Dora Perry Breland, Walterboro, South Carolina; 8 grandsons; 9 granddaughters, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; and his sister, Margaret and her husband, John Cameron, Shag Harbour. George was predeceased by his wife, Edith, February 13, 2002; son, Jackie G. Perry, June 25, 2005; sisters, Althea and her husband, Leslie Smith, Shag Harbour; Winnifred and her husband, Sidney Nickerson, Doctor’s Cove; Charlotte and her husband, Maynard Smith, Shelburne; Dora and her husband, Herman Smith, Bear Point; Gladys and her husband, Raymond Palmer, Massachusetts; and Jean and her husband, Harold Corning, Yarmouth. There will be a visitation held Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service will take place 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. Perry Ingersoll officiating. Interment to follow in the Birch Hill Cemetery, Bear Point.
