Joyce Marguerite Fisher - 94, of Aldershot, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was born on October 16, 1922 to the late Arthur and Jennie (Lutz) Barkhouse. She had resided in her home at the same address for 72 years. She and her husband, Layton celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. She worked in the office with her husband at their Shell Service Station and was also with the St. John Ambulance for a number of years. She was a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church in Aldershot, serving on several committees, was a former president of the Ladies' Auxiliary and also taught Sunday School. She loved to travel, visiting their children, and also camping with friends in their travel trailer. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Faber (Dennis Heck), Plymouth, WI; and son, Terry Fisher, Humboldt, SK; six grandchildren, Dennis (Becky) Faber, Tammy (Richard) Hocevar, all of WI; Dr. Nick (Nathalie) Faber of CA; Mark (Donna) Fisher of MB; Allyson (Justin Pearce) Fisher and Kelsey (Mike) Fisher Sliva, all of SK; ten great grandchildren, Jerry (Nikki) Pearce, Tiffany Faber, Brittany (Jeremy) Bushman, all of WI; Nicole, Naomi, Noah and Nathan Faber all of CA; Lauren and Kaden Fisher of MB and Riley Layton Sliva of SK; two great great grandchildren, Kaylyn Joyce Faber and Jaxon Bushman of WI and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Layton in 2006; brother, Carl in 1955; sister, Verna Williams in 2014 and daughter-in-law, Marlene Fisher in 2001. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot, Reverend Thelma McLeod and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in Joyce's memory may be made to Bethany Memorial Baptist Church.
