We, the family of Freda Anne Bishop, sadly regret to announce her passing on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at home.
Born August 31, 1934, in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Bernice (Borden) Borden. From the age of 16, Freda worked at Snow White Cleaners, retiring at the age of 68.
She is survived by her stepsons, Cecil “Bimbo” Hoyte and Gary Hoyte; sisters, Marion Borden, Donna Clyke and Theresa Borden; brothers, Charles and George Borden; grandchildren, Derek, Gary, Joshua, Ebony, Santana, Amber, Freda, Alan Jr., Alana and Emily; numerous great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Colleen Tobin; many extended family members across Canada. Freda was predeceased by her first husband, Alphonse Bishop Sr. and second husband, Clydie Hoyte; sons, Alphonse and Alan Bishop; sisters, Joyce Borden and Laura Maxwell; brother, Jim Borden. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday from 1-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ron Coole officiating. Interment in Eastmount Cemetery.
