LETKEMAN – Tena passed away at 91 years at The Meadows in Swift Current, SK on December 27, 2016. Tena and her twin sister were born on April 1, 1925 to Abraham and Anna Wiebe on the family farm in the Rozengard area. She was the 10th of 12 children. She attended Amphian School as a child. Later she attended 2 years of Bible School in Swift Current. She worked for several families in the area and at the Mennonite Youth Farm at Rostern, SK. Tena married Jacob Letkeman on August 1, 1954. They honeymooned at Cypress Hills south of Maple Creek, SK. Nathan was born in September 1955 and a daughter Jeneen was born in August 1956. After 8 years, Tena went back to work in Swift Current at the Union Hospital as a Dietary Aide for 7 years. Jake bought a farm in the Cantuar area and went farming for 24 years. Tena loved to bake cookies with the grandkids. She enjoyed singing, gardening, raising chickens, milking cows and she sold cream and eggs to many of the neighbors. She loved to go to the mall and visit with friends. She moved into the Prairie View Lodge in Swift Current after Jake’s passing. Tena will be lovingly remembered by her son Nathan Letkeman & family, Jonathan, Aubrey, Calise, Shaundel, Verna Lynn, Jazmine, Billy, Zues, Christina, Christopher, Daelynn; daughter Jeneen Powell and family, Stacey Powell (Rod), Ken (Patricia) Powell. She is also survived by sister & brother-in-law, Ben Wiebe, Bill & Mary Ens and Annis & Milo Grieg. She was predeceased by her parents, Abraham (Anna) Wiebe, husband Jacob Letkeman, Abram (Mary) Wiebe, Annie (John) Schellenberg, Elizabeth (Isaac) Dick, Margaret Wiebe, Agnes (John) Krahn, Peter (Nettie) Wiebe, Bill (Barbara) Wiebe, John Wiebe (in infancy) Lena Wiebe, Mary (Jake) Unger, Henry (Marion) Wiebe, sister-n-law Catherine Letkeman and John and Mary Letkeman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Trailview Alliance Church at 2:00 p.m. The interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
