Richard "Dick" Roberts

Retired Gen-Auto Shippers employee. Dick passed away at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Whitby, Ont. on Dec. 31, 2016. Born in Ingonish, Nova Scotia on February 24, 1930 to the late Sadie (nee Hardy) and Hayden Roberts. Predeceased by his wife, Maxine (nee MacDougall) 1994 and son, Richard Jr. 2015. Survived by his sisters, Dinah (late Tom) Rideout and Florence (late George) MacKinnon of Ingonish, Nova Scotia.
Pre-deceased by Everett (late Verlie nee Simms), Eliza (late Edward) Warren, Simon (late Carrie nee Hardy), Elmer, Doris and John. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law, Isabell (nee LeFriend) Roberts, Marilyn (nee Johnson) Roberts of Oshawa, Ont. and brother-in-law, Douglas Warren of Ingonish, Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews and the MacDougall family,
Dick was a true blue Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan and enjoyed a good game of cards also spending time with family and friends. He spent his summers at Ingonish after his retirement. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of CCU and Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and staff of Sunnycrest Nursing Home for their excellent care and also to the Barclay and Pelow families.
Visitation will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, (905-443-3376) on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 1 p.m. to the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to Lakeridge Health Oshawa or charity of your choice. Memories can be shared at www.mountlawn.ca.
