COTTREAU, Leonard Joseph- age 83 of Sand Beach Yarmouth Co., passed away on January 4, 2017 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Sand Beach on October 14, 1933 he was a son to the late Rene and Loretta (Hubbard) Cottreau. Leonard was a fisherman all of his life both lobster fishing and long lining. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. In his spare time he loved to walk his dogs and in his earlier years was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. He is survived by his daughter, Pam (Scott) Cottreau, Yarmouth; sons, Wayne (Wendy) Cottreau, Greg (MaryAnn) Cottreau, both of Sand Beach; brother, Arnie Cottreau, Yarmouth; sisters, Emma Hattie, Yarmouth; Evelyn Robichaud, Toronto; Diane (Austin) Saulnier, Abrams River; grandchildren, Jennifer, Shelley, Kayla, Kendrick, Morgan, Josh, Katrina; and several great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Vera; daughter, Karen Grant; son-in-law, Arnold Grant; brother, Clarence; sister, Lena Gallagher; brother-in-laws; Bruce Gallagher; Hugh Hattie and Ronald Robichaud. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday January 6, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Gates officiated. Interment will take place in Chebogue Cemetery in the spring. Family flowers only please. Donation in memory may be made to the Yarmouth SPCA.
