Obituary Notice for
James Churchill Mumm

James Mumm, 75, died Dec. 30, 2016 at his home in Courtenay, BC surrounded by his family and friends, after a year-long battle against pancreatic cancer. Jim (“Harry”) originally hailed from Prince Albert SK, where he was an avid member and leader of Cubs and Boy Scouts, graduated from P.A.C.I., and worked at the Sask. Timber Board. In 1964, He married Penny Sands, had a daughter, and moved to Regina where he lived and worked at Kalium Chemicals (except for a few years spent in Michigan) until he retired in 2002, when he moved to Courtenay BC. Throughout his life, he was an avid baseball fan, music lover, world traveller, SCUBA diver, and true friend to all who knew him. In Scouts and in high school, he formed close friendships with a group of guys that became “The Rockhouse Gang” – and who became his family. His many friendships made at work also lasted long after he retired and right up until his passing.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved parents, Art and May Mumm of P.A., as well as dear friend and Rockhouse member, Jimmy Martin. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Bob and Marj Mumm, his wife Penny, his daughter Suzy, and his two grandsons Owen and Jackson, as well as Rockhouse members Bob Johnson, Richard Nordlund, Al Clark, Barry Hudson, Duayne Crosland, and Dave Stewardson. He will be greatly missed and always loved by his many friends and family.
