MACLEOD - Alma G., passed away January 3rd, 2017 in Yarmouth after a very brief illness. Alma was born in Yarmouth April 5th, 1918 and was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Morgan) Crosskill. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Dawn) and Alan (Annette) and her daughters Marion (David Taylor), Diane (Bob LeBlanc) and Kathryn (Milton Murphy) also 10 grandchildren - Fraser, Elizabeth and Gordon MacLeod, Andrew Dan and Neil Worth, Natalie MacLeod Elliott and Kevin MacLeod, Carrie Teixeira and Matthew LeBlanc. Alma was blessed with 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Alma is survived by sister-in-law Margaret Burbridge and special daughter Dale (Brian Haase). She was predeceased by her husband Neil F (Rocky) MacLeod, sister Catherine M Nickerson, and granddaughter April MacLeod. She enjoyed her career as a bookkeeper alongside her husband until his death in 1973 then took her skills to work with Hermie Shapiro at the Women's Up-to-Date Shoppe until she retired at age 70. Her family was her world and she also travelled to visit and connect with her cousins in England, Wales and New Zealand. On her adventurous side she towed a trailer across the country from Vancouver to Yarmouth with two of her children. She leaves behind wonderful memories for all the generations. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favourite charity. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A visitation was held Friday, January 6, 2017 from 7-9 P.M in Sweeny’s Funeral Home south room. A funeral service was held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 A.M. from Beacon United Church, Rev. Sharon Lohnes officiated. Interment took place at Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
