It is with immense sorrow that we, the family of Audrey Dowe, regret to announce her sudden passing on January 4, 2017 at the Medicine Hat Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Audrey was the daughter of the late Norris and Margaret (McIntyre) Dowe. Audrey worked as a stenographer for 25 years, before retiring to care for her mother. In later years, she cared for her late brother, Norris (Bud). Over the years, Audrey’s greatest joys came from spending time with her nieces and nephews, travelling, spending weekends at the bungalow in Ben Eoin and her weekly card game (club). She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Parish and later St. Anne Parish. Audrey is survived by sisters, Doris (late Wayne Farrell), California and Anne (Ray) Lawrence of Glace Bay; brothers, Lonnie (Yvonne), Nyanza, Don (Diane), Cheticamp and Kevin (Gina), Chapleau, ON; sister-in-law, Betty Dowe (Jack), Glace Bay. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Besides her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Norris, and brother-in-law, Wayne Farrell. As per Audrey’s wishes there will be no visitation. A mass celebrating her life will take place at a later date.
