Ainslie Hugh Moore – 82, of Kentville, formerly of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his family. Born in East Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton, he was raised by the late John M. and Marion A. (MacKay) MacKinnon. He served as a peacekeeper in Egypt in the 1950’s and worked as a police officer with CPR in Montreal and later with the Kentville Police Service. He was employed as a photo offset cameraman for 33 years with Kentville Publishing, from where he retired. Ainslie was a true family man and devoted his time to his late wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a photographer and an artist, enjoying painting, sketching, crosswords, working in the garden and cooking. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 58 AF and AM in Kentville. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy (William) Johnstone, Kentville; Wendy Moore, New Minas; a son, Terry (Muriel), Cambridge; a sister, Margaret McAuley, Kenlock, Cape Breton; sister-in-law, Mary “Betsy” MacKinnon, Kenlock; four grandchildren, Megan Legge (Steven), Caitlin Aalders (Kyle), Amie Johnstone (Jason Irvine) and Mandy Johnstone (Nick Sheffield); six great grandchildren, Juliet Stephen, Riley Aalders, Noah Aalders, Cooper Aalders, Mya Irvine and Callie Irvine; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a special niece, Karen (David) Cooke and a special nephew, Wendell (Danita) MacKinnon. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne (Crosby); a sister, Mary Delaney (Joseph); a brother, Murdock. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. A combined Masonic Lodge service and funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Emmanuel United Church, Kingsport, Reverend Mike Veenema officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Emmanuel United Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
