Ellen Ann Thuroit passed peacefully away on December 18, 2017, surrounded by family at the White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton at the age of 82 years. Ellen was born in Canada Bay on January 19th, 1934. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Patricia Tobin (Tom), Margaret Kearney (Jerome), Mary Bromley (Paul), and Jackie Fillier (Darren); son Herald Thuroit (Debbie); sister Amelia Carroll; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; special niece Barbara Murley (Dave) as well as lots of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. She was predeceased by her parents James Dempsey and Margaret Dempsey (Hynes), brothers Anthony, Bert, Johnny, and Peter (Veronica), sisters/brothers-in-law Cecilia, Theresa, Anastasia Carroll (Mike), Mary Carroll (Gerald) and brother-in-law Anthony Carroll. Visitation took place at the Roman Catholic Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held on Monday, December 19 with Fr. Lourdhu officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
