We, the family of Michael Louis Chivari, regret to announce his passing on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born November 24, 1940, in Sydney, he was a son of the late Felix and Mary (Ulrich) Chivari. For more than 30 years, Michael worked as a taxi driver for City Wide Taxi. Previous to that, he was a bus driver, worked for Reeves and at one time, owned and operated an Esso gas station. Michael was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Whitney Pier.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Darlene Jacobs), Whitney Pier; grandson, Brett, Dartmouth; partner, Carol Dithurbide; brother, Robert (Delores), Ont.; nieces, Cheryl, Debbie and Pamela; nephew, Ronnie; extended family, Michelle Dithurbide and children, Alicia, Bradley and Jaime George; Ed Dithurbide (Sylvie) and children, Jeremy and Riel; Kim Dithurbide and children, Carrington and Riley Brayden; special little girl, who he thought of as his granddaughter, Harper; special neighbour, Allison Giles. Michael was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elda (Poirier) and sister, Elizabeth MacIsaac. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier on Tuesday, January 31 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating.
Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
