Philip’s entire career was with the City of Sydney Public Works Department, retiring as a heavy equipment operator. During winter storms, he could be seen with sparks flying from the blade of his plow, as he cleared the city streets of snow down to the bare pavement. A talented woodworker, Philip and his wife built their own home on Lorne Street and resided there for over 60 years. He was continually working on projects and helping his family. He loved to tinker and always found a way to fix things that needed fixing. Philip loved fishing and could often be found following streams in the Margaree area of the Island, where the family had a summer place called Silver Springs. He and Eileen also loved to travel, visiting all of Canada, the USA, England, Ireland and Australia, where they met and spoke at length with Philip’s favorite singer, Charlie Pride.
Special thanks to the staff of Wentworth Court for their loving care and support.
