Raymond Joseph John Laurette

April 4, 1935 – February 12, 2017
Our father, Raymond Laurette, passed into eternal joy and peace. Dad was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, the fourth child of George Laurette and Mildred LeBlanc Laurette. Shortly after arriving in Kitchener in 1955, Dad met the love of his life, Patricia Walton, at a dance at St. Louis Church, where they married in 1956. This April, they would have celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary.
They were members of St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Kitchener for over 35 years. Dad was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5135. They were both active in the Cursillo Movement and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Dad has joined his brothers and sisters: Hubert (in infancy), Ralph Laurette and Bob Laurette, both of Kitchener, Len Laurette of Amherst, NS, Dorothy Terry and Zena Rodgers, both of Amherst, NS, and his brothers-in-law Peter MacNeill of Pictou, NS and Doug Walton (Amy) of Owen Sound.
He will be missed by his brother Hubert of Amherst, NS and sister Vivian MacNeill of Pictou, NS, as well as his many cousins and friends still in Amherst, NS. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law Margaret Laurette and Jean Laurette of Kitchener and Eileen McKay of Amherst, NS and mom’s siblings Frances Walton and Greg Walton, both of Waterloo and Marion and her husband Dale Roeder of Kitchener. Dad was blessed to have many nieces and nephews who will dearly miss him.
Dad is deeply missed by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michelle Laurette and Dana Marostega and Michelle’s children Dennis and Julie Feledi, Eric and Mimma Feledi, Mark and Corrine Feledi, Leah Feledi and Jim MacEachern, Cody and Kayla Feledi, Luke and Amanda Feledi, and Tyler Feledi; Marilynne and Bob Feeney and their children Jennifer and Mike Friesen, Cheryl and Jeff Beaupre, Thomas and Ashley Feeney, and Mary Feeney; Michael and Denise Laurette and their children Chris, Adam, Sarah, Dylon and Renée Laurette and Kooper; Denise (Laurette) Leiska and her children Sean and Dawn Wideman, Dannielle Wideman and Tommy Clifton; Suzie Laurette and Terry Albrecht and Suzie’s daughter Amanda and Andrew Werrnart; Steve and Tina Laurette and Steve’s son Scott,Tina’s son Austin and daughter Kaci Kiley; and Bernie Laurette and his sons Tyler Beswick and Jackie, Brandon Laurette and Sarah, Josh Laurette and Melissa. Dad will be equally missed by his 31 plus great-grandchildren.
We invite relatives and friends to share memories and kinds thoughts of Dad at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. with Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 8:45 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Cursillo 5th Day Service at 6:45 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes RC Church, 75 Bluevale St. N., Waterloo on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. Following cremation, interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date.
