KAREN ELAINE KRAWCHUK
Karen Elaine Krawchuk, loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She was born on November 15, 1964 in Prince Albert, SK to George and Berneice (nee Saretzky) Krawchuk. Karen is survived by her loving husband Yvan Lafond; her father George Krawchuk of Prince Albert; sisters Deborah of Saskatoon and Donna of Sacramento; brother Kelly Loroff of Saskatoon; niece Leslie Edwards (Ray) of Saskatoon; great-nephew Tye Carlton; great-niece Sydney Edwards and niece Kerri Erlandson (Arden) of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her mother Berneice; her maternal grandparents Helen and John Saretzky; paternal grandparents Nicholai and Anne Krawchuk; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Adored by her sisters and brother she had a very happy childhood. Always competitive, she hated losing and would never give up. This was evident in her battle with cancer, fighting until the end. Karen married her best friend and the love of her life Yvan Lafond in 2009 and these were some of the happiest years of her life. Family was a very important part of her life, going on vacations, sporting events, spending time at Emma Lake and family get-togethers. Karen was the baby of the family but she made sure everyone was taken care of, especially her Dad. She was loved by many for her unique personality as she was always full of life, never one to sit still; she lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party! An avid sports fan she supported the Raiders, Riders, Mintos, Rush, Oilers, Blue Jays and Canadian Curling. She played fast pitch, curled and was a skilled golfer. At Karen’s request please wear a sports team jersey or t-shirt to the prayer service. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10 from River Park Chapel 301 River Street West. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25 Street East by Father Roque Concepcion. Cremation will take place after the service with interment at a later date at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, Home Care Division. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Colette Harnett, Funeral Director 306-764-2727
