Margaret Johanna Komaike (nee Honatzis) passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017. She was born in Bruno SK on October 30th, 1926, the 2nd youngest of 6 children born to Paul and Albertha Honatzis
Margaret attended school in Bruno and then went on to obtain her degree in nursing from St. Pauls Hospital in Saskatoon in 1948.
Margaret met the love of her life, Phillip Frederick Komaike and they were married on September 21, 1953. They were partners for 59 years and raised 5 children. Laurie (Tony Pyette), Susan (Brian Campbell), Nancy (Gerald Bishko), David (Laurie Watson), Robert (Lois Hadley) and had 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Margaret worked part-time and then full-time after her children were grown. She retired in 1986 with Fred and together they moved to their dream house at Candle Lake. There, she won many awards for her beautifully landscaped yard and flower gardens. She was very creative and loved sewing and doing crafts with and for her children and grandchildren. She also was a great cook and none of us will forget her raspberry crème pie…….it was the best pie ever!
Fred and Margaret left Candle Lake in 2001 and moved back to Prince Albert. There they spent many happy years, first in their house and then their condo where they loved just hanging out with and spoiling their grandchildren.
Margaret will be remembered for her gentle and caring nature, her sense of humor and her great love of family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at later date this spring.
