Cameron Wallace Lyster (January 29, 1997 - March 19, 2017) Cam was born in Camrose on January 29, 1997 and passed away suddenly at home, on March 19, 2017. For most of his youth, he resided in Rosalind and it was there that he called home. He attended Rosalind School for most of his schooling before moving on to Bawlf School. His was the first class to graduate from the new building in 2015 but he always felt that the old building was “his" school. He played hockey as a goaltender from his early years in Rosalind until he left the system in his Bantam year and always followed hockey very closely. From there, he played high school volleyball and along with his team mates, won two successive Provincial gold medals. After graduation, he moved to Nova Scotia to attend college in the Energy Sustainability Technologist program. To fund his schooling, he joined the Army Reserves in Camp Aldershot part time. It was there that he found his calling and had made plans to make the army his career. He left college and began his new path in earnest. He had reached the level of private with the goal of attaining corporal this summer. A medical diagnosis in December made that career path unattainable and he returned home to Camrose shortly before his death. He leaves to mourn his passing his parents Bob and Shirley Lyster; brother Greg; aunt and uncle Lara and Arnold White; cousins Jeff and Eric Brausen; grandmother Barbara Hayduk; grandfather Ken Lyster (Edith Young); uncle Don Lyster; and many great aunts and uncles and a wide assortment of friends across the country made in his short time with us. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Steve Hayduk and his paternal grandmother Peggy Lyster. Cam was a strong advocate for service to his community and country. He was a blood donor and organ and tissue donor. He wanted everyone to sign the back of their drivers license. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017 from the Rosalind Community Hall with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to the Cameron Lyster Memorial Fund payable to Robert and Shirley Lyster. To send condolences, please visit www.burgarfuneralhome.com.
