It is with great heartache that we announce the passing of our strong and loving husband, father and grandfather. William (Bill) Vokey, aged 59 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Carbonear General Hospital, surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Jacob and Rebecca Vokey; brother Allan Vokey; and niece Sherry Vokey. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife Evelyn; son Matthew and granddaughter Isla Rane (Bethany & Blake), and son Brent and daughter-in-law Victoria. Also leaving to mourn 2 brothers: Frank (Chantal) and Phil; 8 sisters: Sylvia (Geddis), Mary, Ruby, Lillian (Leo), Pearl (Howard), Chloe (Arnold), Jean (Newman), Pauline (Neville) and Lorraine (Boyd). Bill also leaves special nephew Bill Higdon and close friends Lemuel and Brenda Reid. He will be missed by an incredibly large circle of family and friends. Resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo, with visitation for family and friends on Thursday, March 30th from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, and Friday, March 31st from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Bill's life will take place on Friday, March 31st at 7 pm at Warren's Funeral Home. Cremation to follow with inurnment at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, flowers will be gratefully accepted or donations in Bill's memory may be made to The Salvation Army Cemetery Fund (TBS Corps).
