It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of David Charles Green age 40 of Port Hawkesbury at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on March 28, 2017. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Charles and Kathleen (McGee) Green. David graduated from SAERC in 1997 and went on to the Regional Occupational Centre for 18 years; in June 2015 he moved to Sydney and was a resident of the Breton Ability Centre. He enjoyed swimming, bowling, walking, music and dancing; and enjoyed the music of Rita MacNeil and Buddy MacMaster; and never missed Highland Fling with Bob MacEachern. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Christopher; along with many aunts uncles and cousins and godmother, Teresa Beaton. David was especially close to uncle, Doug and aunt, Bev McGee; uncle and godfather, Ron McGee and uncle, Francis Green. David was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, A.D. and Annie McGee; parental grandparents, Albert and Catherine Green; aunts, Karen McGee, Kathleen Mattie, Theresa Guthro and Sadie Meisner and uncle, Vince Green.The Family would like to thank the caring staff of Breton Ability Centre, David loved all of you also to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, especially Dr. John Rogers, Dr. Brian Fowlie and Daivd’s family doctor, Dr. James Collins. We learned many lessons from David’s loving and caring way. Resting in Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 from where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Conrad Edwards presiding, burial in the Parish Cemetery.
In David’s Memory, donations may be made to Breton Ability Centre, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, or St. Joseph Cemetery Fund.
