It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Remegius (Megie) Botte (Gallant) of Reserve Mines, NS. Megie passed early Saturday morning, April 1, 2017 at Victoria Haven Nursing home in Glace Bay at the age of 94. Megie was born on October 1, 1922 in Reserve Mines, NS and was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Bridget (MacDonald) Gallant. Besides her parents Megie was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Camille Henry Botte and her brothers, Eldie and Thoryl (Laura); sisters, Shirley, Marianita (Fred), Mary Agnes (William) and brother-in-law Leo. She will be missed by her children, Gregory (Donna) and Donna (Bill); sisters, Irene, Marie (Mickey), Evelyn (Alex), sister-in-law, Agnes; grandchildren, Allison, Keith, Emily and Marc and great grandchildren, Brielle, Blakely and Avery. Megie enjoyed bowling, baking, attending church and time with family. Visitation will be held at Curry’s Funeral Home on 775 Main St. Glace Bay, Monday, April 3 from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4 at 1 p.m at St. Joseph’s Church in Reserve Mines with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Reserve Mines Pensioners Club. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Megie's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association. Megie’s family would like to thank the staff of Glace Bay General Hospital and Victoria Haven Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care of Megie in her final days.
