Frances Joseph "Frickie" MacDonald
We the family and dear friends of Frickie, age 92, are much saddened to announce his passing which occurred at his home earlier this week.
He was a son of the late Frank and Mary (MacKinnon) MacDonald.
The story of Frickie cannot be fairly told here; still, we share with you many friends and acquaintances these few lines. Frickie was a career teacher spanning more than 40 years; 25 years of which was at Sydney Academy, where he taught chemistry and was head of the Science Department. His quick wit and great sense of humour was deeply appreciated; and, his well of generosity was felt by scores of people through his lifetime. Frickie as his friends new him, was a consummate golfer and lifetime honorary member at Lingan golf club.
Francis is survived by his twin sister, Catherine Anne LaPrairie; and by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides his parents, Frickie was predeceased by brothers, Peter and Mike. As per his expressed wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Glace Bay Funeral Home (902) 849-7617. The interment will be private.
