It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Theresa Margaret Sorhaitz, formally of Riverside Drive, Sydney River, NS on April 13 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care where she had been a resident for the last seven years. Born in Sydney, NS on June 20, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Alice MacDonald.
In her earlier years she worked for Maritime Tel & Tel and Revenue Canada. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Joni; son-in-law, Joe Bates; granddaughters, Melissa (Kayle Keigan) and Katherine; great grandson, Carter; sisters, Pauline, Cathy and brother, James (Dodie). She will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Anne Doyle and Regina Sorhaitz and brother-in-law, Hubert (Helen) Sorhaitz. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John; sisters, Rita and Cecelia, and brother, Douglas.
We would like to express our thanks to Mira Bay, Harbourstone Enhanced Care who were like family to Theresa over the last seven years.
There will be a visitation Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.chantfuneralhome.ca.
