Marvin was born to Harold and Hansine Knutson on Jan. 3, 1945 the sixth of 6 children. He died suddenly along with his dog Rex, just outside of Great Falls Montana while on route home to Swift Current on April 15, 2017.
Marvin attended Early School up to the eighth grade and then went to Outlook to attend the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute. After completing high school he moved to Saskatoon where he completed a diploma in Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan. Following that he took over the family farm just west of Simmie in 1967. He moved into Swift Current and worked at the Federal Government Research Centre as a turkey researcher. In 1974 he left his job and along with his nephew Dale traveled to Europe. After returning to Swift Current he worked for his brother Ed for awhile and then went on to start up Palliser Overhead Doors Ltd. first out of his own home and eventually relocating to its current location. Marvin continued to own and operate this business along with an auto-body paint shop, and an RV rentals out of the same location until he sold the businesses and retired in 2011. Next Marvin purchased a home in Mesa where he has been enjoying the snowbird life style, spending his winters down south golfing, dancing, and just living life to the fullest. Marvin returned home every spring to golf, and garden,. He was very involved in the community being a member of the Rotarians, Legion, Scandinavian Club, and St Olaf Lutheran church.
Marvin was predeceased by his parents Harold and Hansine, his sister Hazel Elton, brothers Edgar, Cliff, Kenneth and Carl, niece Pauline, and brother-in-law Lorne Elton. Left to morn are his nieces and nephews Dan, Dale, Bev, Trent Elton, Lorace Elton, Paulette, Blake, Blaine, Ellery and their families, his sisters-in-law Cora and Louise, Linda Birchard and step-children Ron, Michael, Kara, step-granddaughters Ashley Hibbert, Stephani Erdahl, Ryanne Erdahl, many cousins in Canada, the USA and Norway, and special friend Lenora Bells.
