Pamela Ann Morrison

Pamela Ann Morrison

Date de naissance : 15 juin 1957

Date de décès : 20 avril 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pamela Ann Morrison on April 20, 2017, much sooner than our hearts expected.
Born on June 15, 1957 in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Colin and Jennie (Kaiser) MacDonald. She was raised in Sydney and graduated from Holy Angels High School. It was during high school that she met her best friend, ‘Buddy’, and soul mate - her husband of 39 years, Malcolm. Together, they built a life and family built on love, trust and respect admired by many. You would rarely see one without the other as they were a true team in all aspects of life. Pam was a proud mother to her daughters, Amanda and Brittany, and was always keen to boast about their accomplishments. Together, she and Malcolm made these accomplishments possible with the love, guidance and hard-work they not only demonstrated as a team but instilled in their daughters throughout life. Pam was always there to offer her encouragement and love to Amanda and Brittany, continuously putting her family before all else. She also shared a special bond with her niece, Kimberley (Ken Martell), whom she dearly cared for like a daughter, co-worker and true friend. Pam was sure to take great care of all of us and we will always be grateful for the lessons and love she exuded during her time with us.
Pam recently retired from the Workers Compensation Board after 20 years. Although her retirement would be short lived, she frequently expressed that it was one of the best decisions she could have made, in that it gave her more time to enjoy the family she loved so dearly. Mom always spent her time and energy doing, thinking (and worrying), about others. She loved a good 'project', shopping for a good deal, and making endless amounts of her famous cinnamon buns. Perhaps her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Isaac and Isla, both of whom adored their only Nana. Mom had a loving, quick-witted, ‘call it as it is’ personality, with an ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home. There are no words to capture how much she will be missed or how fondly she will be remembered.
Pam is predeceased by her father and mother, Colin and Jennie (Kaiser) MacDonald, and brother, Roland MacDonald; mother-in-law, Elsie (Hinkley) Morrison and brother-in-law, Donald Hughie Morrison.
She is survived by her husband, Malcolm; daughters, Amanda (Christian) Gwisdek and Brittany Morrison (Matthew Mahoney); grandchildren, Isaac and Isla Gwisdek; father-in-law, Donald Morrison; sister-in-law, Karen Sharp and siblings, Doug (Pam) MacDonald, Bill (Rita) MacDonald, Patsy Flynn (Hugh Nicholson), Jane Kennedy (Gary Brophy) and David (Bernadette) MacDonald. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she dearly cared for.
The family wishes to sincerely thank EHS, Dr. RJ MacKenzie and the emergency team for their support, compassion and dedication to our mother's care.
There will be a Celebration of Life Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney. Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Online condolences may be made to the family at www.chantfuneralhome.ca.
Our captain has left the ship but before her departure, she made sure the crew were well trained on which course to follow. Thanks, Mom, you did a great job! Rest in peace.
