It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose McGovern on April 19, 2017 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes
(King) Banville. She was a member of the former Mount Carmel Parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. Rose was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Janice McGovern; one grandson, Kodi,both of Sydney Forks; two sisters, Cecilia Lamori and Lucy Burtwell, both of Michigan, U.S.A.; several nieces and nephews. She was also survived by special neighbours, Joe and Mildred McKinnon and John and Linda Catoul. Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1997 and;son, Robert, in 2009; sister, Mary Oliver; four brothers, Richard, Patrick, Ronnie and John.
There was no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service, officiated by Father Ray Huntley, was held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, on Monday, April 24, 2017. Burial was held in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
