Thomas Chester Gill passed away peacefully in his 73rd year, at Hospice Wellington, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with leukemia, on April 23, 2017. Loving and devoted husband to Marie (nee MacIntosh) Gill for over 50 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Malkie and Julia McIntyre.
Loving father of Tom Gill Jr. (Shelley), Steve Gill (Tina) and Jamie Gill (Monaliza); beloved brother of William Gill and his wife Earlene, Gene Greene and her late husband Harold Greene; brother-in-law to Cathy Gillis (Danny), Tom MacIntosh (Karen) and Reba Costillo. Survived by his six grandchildren who he absolutely adored, Ryan, Brendan, Blake, Arrington, Dylan and Juliana.
Tom was a proud Cape Bretoner from Sydney Forks. He was a devoted family man who proudly served his country as a member of the Black Watch Regiment in his early years. A special and sincere thanks to Dr. Amy Tam and all the staff at the Grand River Hospital Cancer Centre who so thoughtfully cared for dad. Also a special thanks to Dr. Tom Tobin who has always provided excellent care for dad and the rest of our family. Finally, thank you to Hospice Wellington for their compassion to dad and our family during his final days.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Thursday, April 27 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. A Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel will follow at 7 p.m.
Dad received numerous blood transfusions which allowed him to survive these past four and a half years. Please consider donating the gift of life by giving blood.
