Following a brief illness, at the age of 85 years, Elizabeth (nee O’Quinn) passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Corona Del Mar, California, USA.
Elizabeth is credited with a firm and active practice of her Roman Catholic Faith and spent numerous years in voluntary activity throughout most of her life. Her Christian spirit of dedicated services to others will be long remembered and truly missed. She was a long time and active volunteer at Our Lady Queen of Angels with the bereavement committee helping and comforting those in need during their time of grief.
She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents in others and to make them feel loved and lifted by her presence. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends. There was always room for the fellow coming over the hill. She leaves all her children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved. They know that she loved the Lord and now finds comfort in his presence.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert Morgan O’Quinn and Emma Akhurst and the faithful wife of her beloved husband, Angus (Gus) MacPherson, a native of New Waterford, Nova Scotia. Angus and Elizabeth achieved heights of notable success in their establishment of Breton Construction Co., serving throughout the surrounding vicinity of Southern California.
They have been blessed with four children, Donna (Buddie), David (Linda), Daryl (Michele) and Dale (Yvonne); grandchildren include, Heather, Matthew, Breagh, Katie, Paige, Jack, Cole, Morgan, Sydney, Danie, Nikki and Kenzie.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Laura Aylward and predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Hazel King and Audrey (Babe) Fiander.
A Mass of resurrection will be celebrated in their home parish, Our Lady Queen of Angels, Corona Del Mar, CA, Saturday May 13, 11 a.m.
Prayers are asked by the deceased family members.
A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at their home in Corona Del Mar, CA.
