It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that we the family announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dearest friend to many, Jean Porquet on April 28, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay on October 4, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura ‘Tootsie’ (MacLeod) Wrathall.
Jean had worked for many years at the K-Mart, she enjoyed cooking, baking, bingo, casino, traveling, her morning coffee friends, and other company as well but most importantly her family was everything to her.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Henry; sons, Louis (Darlene), Stewiacke and Lenny (Jennie), Ottawa; daughters, Laura Lee (Norman Carmichael), Beaver Bank, NS and Lee Anne (James Randell), Godrich, ON; sisters, Marilyn (Harvey) Mackie, Gardiner Mines, and Karen (Bob) Evans, Sydney-Glace Bay Hwy; brother, James, Surrey, BC; sister-in-law, Pasty; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Michael, April, Stacy, Annette, Ashley, Daniel, Sarah, Krista, Megan and Nicholas, Denika, and many great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her two very special friends, Nippy and Joy.
Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her brother, Johnny; grandson, John and great- grandson, Decklyn.
Cremation has taken place and a chapel service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held today, Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will be held at the K.O.C. and all are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
