It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother Pearl MacAulay at home n Halifax, April 27, 2017.
Born in Sydney, November 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Bryne and Everett (Tim) Bryne.
Pearl is survived by her children, Shelley MacAulay (Westmount), Ken (Sherry) MacAulay (Truro), Angela (Eric) Landry (Halifax); sister, Sandra (Bruce) Campbell (Westmount); brother, Tim (Suzanne) Bryne (Bedford); grandsons, Tyler Harker, Ken and Josh MacAulay, Nicolas Landry; great-grandson, Jude; nephew, Darren and niece, Mary-Beth.
Predeceased by first husband, Kenneth MacAulay; sister, Marsha and grandparents, Robert and Mary-Alice Rose.
Pearl was employed with the Justice Department for many years before becoming Deputy Registrar of Joint Stocks. She held the position of acting Registrar of Joint Stocks until her retirement. Upon retiring, Mom stayed very active within the community and sat on various boards, her favourite being the A. Tyler Harker Foundation which was founded on behalf of her grandson. As a past member of the P.C. party, mom loved politics. She was an avid reader, loved to ballroom dance and she enjoyed her life to the fullest. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Mom was a woman of great strength and wisdom and gave generously of herself. She was deeply loved and we will miss her presence in our lives more than words can say, especially by her closest friends, Richard MacAulay, John and Mavis Buchanan, Sharon and Elmer MacKay, Doug Lloy, Lorraine Steele, Paulette Hunt, Lorraine Sampson among others.
We, the family, would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ernie Johnson, a long-time friend and family physician for his excellent care and compassion shown to our mother throughout the years.
A cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in Halifax and will be announced at a later date. A family burial will be held in Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the A. Tyler Harker Foundation for Children with Undiagnosed Diseases at Sydney Credit Union. Donations will be accepted at all Credit Unions throughout Nova Scotia.
