Carole Naylor

Carole Naylor (nee Allen) passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2017 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Carole was born in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England on December 23, 1934. She is survived by her three children Lee (Sandra) Naylor, Grahame (Donna) Naylor, Elizabeth (Jan) Naylor; as well as seven grandchildren Vaughn, Nigel, Bryn, Lonnie and Bethany Naylor, Ben and Jacob Radwanski; brother Neville; sisters Paulette (John) Bowman and Yvonne (Buzz) Goodacre; sister-in-law Brenda Allen, and John Naylor, father of her children; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ronald and Dorothy Allen; and brothers Terrance, and Michael in infancy. Carole was employed by the Melton Times newspaper before coming to Canada in 1957. In Prince Albert, she worked at the Daily Herald before embarking on a 36 year career culminating as the Head of the Audio Visual Services Department at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library. Carole was always involved in local initiatives and over the years served as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, UNICEF committee, community orchestras and bands, Prince Albert Writers Group, Council of Canadians and World Vision. She was especially proud of her involvement for the last 10 years with Grandmothers for Grandmothers. She was known for her gentle manner and compassion for her family and friends. She took an active interest in her grandchildren and their activities. She enjoyed being busy with gardening, baking, bike riding, swimming, yoga and walking, being some of her favourite activities. On most occasions you could find Carole working steadfastly on various projects around her house and cabin. Carole read extensively, and had a great interest in history, especially European history. She was a published author and wrote two books pertaining to her childhood in England and on her life in Canada. The desire to travel took her to many places around the world. She visited Asia, Australia, Italy, Hawaii and travelled by train around the USA on an extensive trip. Many times she ventured back to England to visit family and friends. Her favourite trips were always those that took her near an ocean. Carole enjoyed music all her life. She loved classical music and reading about the composers and their lives. However, she also liked pop music, especially many British bands and loved to attend concerts. A constant companion for Carole was any one of her beloved cats and she always had an open- door policy towards other neighbourhood felines. In lieu of other tributes, donations in her memory can be made to World Vision Canada or the Prince Albert Chapter of Grandmothers for Grandmothers. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Alban’s Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK with Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin officiating.
