MARY DOROTHY FESCHUK
August 31, 1931 – May 3, 2017
We are sad to announce the passing of our Mom and Grandma, Mary Feschuk. She passed away at the Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with her daughters by her side. She is lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren – Sharon Feschuk (Peter), Sandra Klashinsky (Rod), Ron Feschuk (Janice) and children Jaxon and Krista, Russ (Leslie) and daughter Sarah. Also by special nieces Annette, Gayle and Barb. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years William Feschuk, her parents Harry and Dorothy Sacharuk, her parents-in-law Joe and Annie Feschuk, her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Larry Smith, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Peter Jaspar. Mom was born at the Red Cross Hospital in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the farm near Paddockwood. She loved school and went on to Teachers College in Saskatoon. Mom taught for several years before settling down to farm life at Meath Park with William. Together they worked on a mixed farm and raised four children. Mom worked hard on the farm as she raised chickens and turkeys, milked cows, and helped with cattle and seeding and harvest. She sold eggs, milk and cream in the days when cream cans went to the railway station. In later years she sold strawberries, tomatoes and other vegetables at the Farmer's Market in P.A. Mom had a huge garden from which she filled the storage room and freezer. She won many ribbons at the P.A. Exhibition for her baking, vegetables, flowers and spectacular houseplants. Mom volunteered on countless committees and participated in many community events. In spite of the demands of farm life she enjoyed a variety of activities including softball and curling. She was a skilled seamstress and took classes in tailoring. She taught 4-H baking projects. Mom was an excellent cook and baker, always trying new recipes. She enjoyed preparing huge holiday meals (with perogies and cabbage rolls, of course) and special birthday cakes, especially tall chiffon cakes. She also popped thousands of bags of popcorn! Together with Dad, Mom travelled many miles to watch her children in curling, football and other events. She also cherished any time she could spend with her grandchildren. Mom curled well into her seventies and was an avid fan of the sport on TV. It rivaled only watching the Riders play! Coffee row and the Seniors' Club were an important part of her life, keeping in touch with life long friends and the community. She dropped a few pennies at the Casino too! At Mom's request there will be no funeral, however, we will celebrate her life at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Cheryl Carlson.
