Gutka, Edward
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ed on May 12, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Ed was born on May 15, 1946 to John and Marie (Wasylenchuk) Gutka. He was the oldest of five sons. His early years were spent in the Shipman area, then later his family moved to Henribourg. In 1967, he married his life-long mate, Ruth Mikalchuk, and together they raised their two children, Tom and Karen, on their farm in Henribourg. Ed was employed by the elevator in Henribourg for a few years and then spent the next 35 years working for the Department of Highways until his retirement in 2005. Ed took pleasure in living and working on the farm with Ruth. He was an excellent provider and he and Ruth taught their children the importance of hard work, responsibility and being considerate of others. Ed was both generous and hospitable toward his family, friends and neighbors and he valued the time he spent with them. He took great delight in his three grandchildren, Avery, Spencer and Connor and he cherished the time he spent with them.
Ed will be remembered for having a good sense of humor; he loved to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed fishing, camping and listening to Ukrainian and country music. Ed also had an appreciation for spiritual things. He had strong faith and loyalty to his Creator, Jehovah God. His faith was especially evident during his brief illness and brought him great comfort. He looked forward to a time when pain, sickness and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3,4)Ed will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Ruth; his children Tom (Michelle) and Karen(Dennis) Zarysky; his grandchildren Avery, Spencer and Connor Zarysky; his brothers Allan (Lorie), Don (Donna) and Arnold; his sister-in-law Helen Reimer and his brother-in-law Paul (Dianne) Mikalchuk as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Marie Gutka and his brother David.A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4350 - 2 Ave. W., Prince Albert, SK.
