
Clair Chappell Goodwin
Clair Chappell Goodwin, 80, of Lorneville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 16, 1936 in Lorneville, Clair was a son of the late Hance and Emma (Smith) Goodwin. He was also predeceased by his wife, Elaine Edith (nee Tompkins); sisters, Genevieve Burns and Audrey Baxter.
Clair will be sadly missed by his daughter, Janice, Charlottetown, PEI; sons Timothy (Deborah), Houston, Texas, Jamie and Kevin (Brenda) both of Lorneville; beloved grandchildren Amber, Tiffany, Josh and Jillian; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Patricia), Rocky Mountain House, AB, and Edward (Sheila) Trenholm, Trenton, ON; sisters, Eileen Lowe, Amherst and Gwen King, Lorneville; as well as several nieces and nephews. He shall be dearly loved and missed by all, with a deep fondness and loss by his niece, Sue-San King.
From a very early age, Clair was very interested in farming with his dad. He took an active part in the local 4H Club and as a young teenager he was chosen one year for a tour of the Annapolis Valley, which impressed him. Clair was a proud farmer and woodsman, and was a member of Athol Forestry Cooperative Ltd., Nova Scotia Cattlemen’s Association, Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture as well as Sunrise Senior Citizen’s. For many years, Clair operated a firewood business with his son, Kevin, serving customers throughout Cumberland County and into New Brunswick. Clair took great pride in his work and serving people.
As per Clair’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:30 pm from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Mrs. K. Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Interment will take place in the Lorneville United Church Cemetery followed by reception in church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Clair’s memory may be made to the Lorneville United Church.
