Gillis, Preston Bretherton - 83, Pleasant Hill, Inv. Co.; died peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Green Meadows Community Residence, North Grant. Born in Point Prim, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Murdock and Annie (Ross) Gillis. Preston was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic, he retired as a carpenter. He is survived by daughters Kathryn and Nancy (Derrick ) Cameron both of Pleasant Hill; sons Carl (Ester) Norwood, Ma., and Ronald (Cindy) Gastonia, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Eleanor Gillis, Point Prim, P.E.I. and Kay (Bill) Foxton, Dartmouth; brother Linwood (Ethel) Virginia. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren Albert, Jason, Jennifer, Nathan, Joelle; great-grandchildren Madison, Anna, Carter, Brooklyn, Liam and Weston, many nieces and nephews and cousins; also special family friend Michelle Krug, Walpole, Ma. Preston was predeceased by his wife, Florence (MacLeod), brothers Norman, Chester, Garfield, and Seldon. Visitation and funeral service has taken place in Norwood, Ma. Burial in Norwood Cemetery, Norwood, Ma. Special thanks to caregivers Darlene Austen, Sarah MacEachern and Mary Ann MacMillian and also the wonderful staff at Green Meadows Community Residence.
