Ellen Constance Thompson She passed away suddenly at Tyndall Estates Retirement Home on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at the age of 104. She was born Feb. 26, 1904, in Kentville, N.S. Predeceased by her beloved husband Rev. Canon G. R. Thompson, by her parents Arthur and Minnie Palmeter, by her brothers Lockhart and Robert Palmeter and by her sister Frances Shangle. Ellen is survived by her dear daughter and son-in-law Frances and Ian Clarkson, by her grandsons Andrew (Joanne), John and David Clarkson, by her granddaughter Jennifer Clarkson and by her great-granddaughter Isabella Clarkson. Ellen was a rector's wife who gave great support to her husband in the parishes of St. James Church, Kentville N.S., St. John's Church, Truro N.S., and the Church of the Ascension, Don Mills, Ont. Her door was always open to welcome any parishioners in need of a cup of tea and a chat or a meal. She was a family homemaker and a gracious hostess. She was a life member of the women's auxiliary of the Anglican Church, now the ACW, and of the British and Foreign Bible Society, now the Canadian Bible Society. Many thanks to Andrea Williams and the caring staff at Tyndall Estates. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at All Saints' Kingsway Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor St. W. at Prince Edward Drive. The family will receive friends at the Prince Edward entrance of the church for one hour before the service. Interment at St. George's on-the-Hill Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thompson House, 1 Overland Drive, North York, Ont., M3C 2C3 or to All Saints' Kingsway Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor St. W., Toronto, Ont., M8X 1B2.
