WESTVILLE - Mrs. Joan "Shirley" (Hill) Day, 70, of Porter's Lane, Westville, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Monday, June 18, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Lena (Daley) Reid, and a step-daughter of Helen Reid. Shirley grew up in Trenton, moving to New Glasgow with her husband, Charles where they resided for many years. She later moved to Westville after her second marriage. She attended Salvation Army Church, Westville, enjoying their services and many socials. Her greatest enjoyment however, was her visits with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Ella Mae Cornett, New Glasgow; sons: Gordon (Patsy) Hill, Hopewell; John (Janet) Hill, Thorburn; Charles Hill, New Glasgow; Herman Hill, Ont; six grandchildren: Ella Mae and Frank Cornett, Matthew and Tyler Hill, Jessica and Cody Hill; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Dallas, and Dawson Cornett. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Nelson Hill; second husband, Rueben Day; brothers, Charles Reid and Chippy Reid; and son-in-law, Frank Cornett. Visitations will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Capt. James Sinclair officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
